My Thoughts As October 7 Approaches The silent battle facing our soldiers continues.

Message from Maj. Gen. (Res.) Nadav Padan
CEO, FIDF

Dear Friend,

In the coming days, we will mark three years since the massacre of October 7th.

Three years have passed since that terrible day, and around the world, we are witnessing the truth being distorted, facts being denied, and history being rewritten.

At FIDF, we will not allow the truth to be forgotten.

We remember how this war began. We remember the innocent lives brutally taken, the families forever changed, and the extraordinary acts of courage and heroism that emerged from unimaginable horror. We remember why Israel was forced to defend itself, and why its soldiers continue to stand in defense of their country and its people.

As others seek to rewrite the history of October 7th, we have a responsibility to preserve it and to support the soldiers who put their lives on the line to defend democracy. While political leaders on the world stage claim that Hamas is not active in Judea and Samaria, the reality on the ground tells a very different story. Within days of such declarations, two horrific terror attacks took place, including one that left the son of Israel’s Ambassador to the United States fighting for his life.

Despite these declarations, we remain far from achieving lasting stability in the region. Israel continues to face persistent security threats across multiple fronts, including from Iran, Lebanon, and Syria.

We also know and see the price of war. The length of the war and the toll it continues to take on our soldiers, families, and reservists have been brutal. PTSD is affecting far too many, and the need for support is more urgent than ever. Please take a moment to read my interview with The Jerusalem Post about the dire need for intervention.

Thankfully, because of supporters like you, we are able to provide expert care for these heroes. Israel’s soldiers now have access to a national mental health network spanning 10 clinics across the country, with another one opening in October. We have expanded our support for reservists and recently inaugurated a dedicated Reservist House to offer them tailored support, services, and guidance. Read more.

As the world debates how this war began, and as antisemitism continues to spread through our cities and across social media, it is more important than ever that we remember what took place on October 7th, understand the hatred that fuels terrorism, and recognize the misinformation fueling antisemitism around the world.

Three years later, it is our responsibility and commitment to remember the truth and to stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel’s soldiers.

Am Yisrael Chai.

With heartfelt appreciation and warm wishes for a chag Sukkot sameach,

Maj. Gen. (Res.) Nadav Padan
Chief Executive Officer
